17 historic districts
The city has 17 historic districts and more than 45 individually designated sites. Exterior changes need a Certificate of Appropriateness: staff approve minor work, and larger projects go to the Historic Preservation Board.
Downtown review
Downtown projects are reviewed by the Urban Design section under the Downtown Master Plan, and some go to the Downtown Action Committee.

Stamped approved plans are downloaded from the portal rather than emailed, so everyone on the team needs access.
